Headquarters
Counseling Center provides many valuable services.
Laga's contribution to Headquarters
Counseling Center will help in these
ways and more:
- Children’s
Safety Program – Last spring,
a Woodlawn Elementary student was followed home by a 33 year
old man. She was able to get away by using the tried
and true Stranger Danger technique of running. This
child is safe partly because of our safety education presentations.
- Crisis Response Services – This fall, after
the death of a young student at Cordley Elementary, we provided
support for the school staff who had been working with the
bereaved children. In addition, we lead the Emergency
Management Disaster Mental Health Team that assisted people
during the mass flu vaccine clinic last month, and the tornado
last year.
- Healing After Suicide, bereavement support group – The
forty people in the group this year receive and provide
support after the very sad, and stigmatized, loss of a loved
one to suicide. Healing happens!
- Douglas County CAIRS (Community
Access to Information and Referral Services) Resource Directory – Already
this year nearly 50 area schools, churches, and non profits
are using this directory to better help the people they serve.
